5 relaxing ways to stay active while on holiday

Staying active on holiday can be quite simple if you make the time for it, walking is the most common and easiest physical activity to do while on holidays. We have thought of a couple of more activities to help you balance out enjoying that extra helping of Murray River Cod and maintaining a healthy lifestyle!

1. Walk

Exploring a new town on foot allows you to become familiar with where different locations and landmarks are. A type of orientation exercise where you can wander around and blend in with the locals.

Walking along the Renmark riverfront you will become familiar with many iconic landmarks such as the PS Industry (a paddle steamer), the Renmark Hotel (first community owned hotel in South Australia), the town water fountain & the Murray River Queen (tourist paddle boat).

Another great walk is through Paringa Paddock, nearby bushland trails where you can design your own walk with the different routes available. Admire gum tree forests and the river and you might even encounter kangaroos and friendly locals. Be sure to say hello.

2. Ride

If you like to quicken the pace a little, we have power assisted bicycles, complimentary for our guests to use. Ride a little further afield into Renmark and visit the 23rd Street Distillery for a tour and tasting and stop in at Arrosto Coffee for an ice coffee.

The bikes are also great for exploring Paringa Paddock or if you’re feeling extra energetic, take the 10km ride to Headings Cliffs Lookout to admire the view.

3. Canoe

Quietly propelling yourself in a canoe through the wetlands and lagoons of the Murray River is one of the best ways to encounter water birds. A guided tour with local expert is the best way to navigate the meandering water bodies and they can also impart great knowledge and help your identify different bird species.

Canoeing will give your legs a rest if you do ride up to Headings Cliffs Lookout!

4. Pilates/Yoga

A popular low impact activity and hailed for the health benefits, yoga and Pilates are a great way to tune into mindfulness and caring for the body. Especially while travelling! Our favourite studio in Renmark is Wellness Pilates, visit their website to view the class timetable

5. Massage

A form of recovery and relaxation but still very important to include in your physical activity schedule. Regular massages are a bit like maintenance for your muscles and encourage repair and can provide a much needed release from tension. Our recommendation, visit The Beauty Spot in Renmark, we guarantee you’ll walk out feeling light as a feather!
